Let the ‘real’ competition begin

The Asia Cup, 2016 is drawing to a close and with India already qualified to the finale, the question on everybody’s mind is: ‘who will we be playing against?’
With the UAE out of contention for a place in the finale, the second spot is up for grabs. Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka all have chances to seal their berth as the finalist and play against India.
While an India vs Pakistan finale would a treat for all cricket lovers; Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can also be not ruled out easily. In fact, the stage is set for Bangladesh with one win on Wednesday evening; they can knock both Pakistan and defending champions Sri Lanka out of the Asia Cup. However, if Pakistan beat Bangladesh in this title clash then all will depend on the last league match, which will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
But again, if it was that simple why would it be that I will be penning this piece. The twist in the tale would come in if Pakistan beat Bangladesh but go on to lose to Sri Lanka, then all three teams will end level on four points, bringing in the net run-rate (NRR) to decide who goes through to the final.
Hence, it’s time we keenly watch the remaining games and wait to see who seals the berth as the second finalist and will play against India on March 6, Sunday.

P.S. Hoping to witness arch rivals India and Pakistan taking on each other in the clash of Asian Supremacy (not a dead rubber like the league match)
